This time, I would like to focus on the Task Recorder in Dynamics 365 for Operations.

What is Task Recorder?

As Dynamics AX engineers and experts may already know, Dynamics AX has an auxiliary function called Task Recorder that records your screen operations and copies them into a document. This function is particularly useful for creating manuals and providing user support.
Now with Dynamics 365 for Operations, Task Recorder has added a "Task Guide" function that not only documents screen operations but also guides users through the operations, so I'd like to try it out right away.

It is possible to add black speech bubbles (operation guides) using the "Task Guide" function.

Use Task Recorder task guide

There are no particularly complicated steps to use it; it's as simple as recording screen operations and following the guide.
This time, we will create a task guide called "Set the company when a user logs in."

Recording screen operations

Run Task Recorder from the top right of the screen.

The Task Recorder menu will be displayed on the right side of the screen.
Create a recording.

Enter a name and description for your recording and click Start.

From here on, you will operate the "Set company when user logs in" screen.
Click System Administration.

Click Manage Users.

Search for the user in the list.

Select a user.

Click Edit in the top left.

Set up the company (change from DAT to JPMF)

Click Save in the top left.

Click Stop in the top right.
This completes the recording of screen operations. (After stopping, press Return to Main Menu.)

Run a task guide

Let's see what a task guide looks like.
Press Play the recording as a task guide.

Click Open from latest.

Select the name of the recorded guide in Task Guide Name and click Open Task Guide.

Click Start Task Guide.

A black speech bubble will be displayed to guide you through the operation, making screen operation extremely easy.
