How to get a Dynamics 365 trial version (August 2023)

There have been changes to how you can obtain a trial version of Dynamics 365, so this blog will explain how to obtain it as of March 2021.
For the most up-to-date and accurate information, please check the official Microsoft website.

What is the trial version?

The trial version is an environment where you can try out the Dynamics 365 application for free for 30 days. It is mainly used as a testing environment before implementation or as a testing environment for customization.

The following license is granted for one trial version.

• Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Plan (25 licenses)

You can try out the following features in the trial environment:

• Dynamics 365 Sales Professional (Sales)
• Dynamics 365 Customer Service Professional (Customer Service)
• Dynamics 365 Project Operation (Project Management)
• Power Apps (only as an extension to Dynamics 365)

Prerequisites

To obtain the trial version, you will need the following items. Please prepare them in advance.

1. Email Address
2. A phone number that can receive SMS

Acquisition Procedure

The process is divided into two stages, all completed in one wizard.

1. 　Get a trial Office 365 account
2. 　Creating a trial database

(Note) If you use Incognito mode (Chrome) or InPrivate browsing (Microsoft Edge), the browser may not be able to use cookies, and you may be unable to proceed further.

A screen like the one shown in the screenshot will appear, so click on "Sign up here" as circled in red.

2. Click "No, continue signing up."

3. Next, the following screen will appear. Here, enter an email address that is not registered with Office 365, and then click the "Next" button.

4. Click the "Create a new account" button.

XNUMX.Next, you will need to enter your information. After entering and selecting each item, click the "Next" button.

XNUMX.Here, select "Send a text" for authentication and enter the phone number you prepared in the prerequisites. A verification code will be sent to that number via SMS, so enter the code you received and press the "Confirm" button.

9.Your account will be created and a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you entered in step 5.
After confirming that you have received the email, click "Get Started."

10.The Power Platform Admin Center screen will open. A new environment creation wizard will appear on the right side of the screen. Enter an environment name of your choice, set the type to "Use (Subscription-based)," and set the region to "Japan - Default." Once you've finished the setup, click Next.

11.Set up the database. If you don't have any special requirements, you can leave the language and currency as default. If you want to specify the URL of the environment, enter it. If you do not enter it, a random string will be automatically set.
In the Automatically deploy these apps section, select which apps to deploy. If you don't have any specific requirements, select "All enterprise applications" and click Save.

12.The environment you just created will be added to the list of environments. Wait a few minutes for the status to change from "Preparing Instance" to "Ready." If the status does not change, click Update to the latest information at the top of the screen.

13.Check the created environment, select it, and click Open Environment.

14.Verify that your published apps are displayed and that the app you selected is displayed.
