EMOROCO CRM Lite Self-Hosted and Azure Configuration Guide — On-Premise Design for Companies That Don't Want to Take Data Outside the Company
Hello, this is Matsubara, CRM Evangelist.
"Storing customer data in the cloud is difficult from a compliance standpoint."
"Because we have transactions with financial institutions, we need to clearly define where the data is stored."
"We have European customers, so we need to comply with GDPR and want to store our data within an EU domain."
This is a sentiment I repeatedly hear from people in the finance, healthcare, professional services, local governments, and globally operating companies.
EMOROCO CRM Lite isSupports both SaaS (cloud) and self-hosted (on-premises) solutions.doing.
This design removes the barrier of "we can't implement CRM because we can't use the cloud."
The difference between SaaS and self-hosting
Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure managed by Arcus Japan
Data location: On Azure (can be installed in the Japan region or other overseas regions).
Management burden: None (Updates and backups are handled by Arcus)
Suitable organizations: Small and medium-sized enterprises in general that do not have restrictions on cloud usage.
Price: 1,500 yen per user per month (no initial fee)
[Self-hosted version (on-premise)]
Infrastructure: Customer-provided servers or Azure environment
Data location: Server specified by the customer
Management burden: Server management is the responsibility of the customer (or a third-party service provider).
Suitable organizations: Organizations with specific requirements for data storage locations.
Price: Please inquire separately.
Five cases where self-hosting is necessary
Case 1: Financial Institutions and Insurance Companies
If your company's Financial Services Agency guidelines or internal security policies require that customer information not be stored on external clouds, you can install EMOROCO CRM Lite on your own server or managed Azure environment using self-hosting.
Case 2: Medical Institutions/Clinics
For healthcare institutions with strict requirements regarding the handling of patient information (personal information and medical information), self-hosting within the hospital network or in a data center dedicated to the institution is suitable.
Case 3: Professional services and law firms (industries with confidentiality obligations)
Lawyers, judicial scriveners, tax accountants, and other professionals are bound by professional confidentiality obligations.
To ensure strict management of client information, you can choose self-hosting on a server that is entirely under your own control.
Case 4: European businesses that need to comply with GDPR
Transferring personal data of EU citizens outside the EU requires meeting the requirements of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).
This requirement can be met by self-hosting on an Azure data center within the EU.
Case Study 5: Data Localization Requirements in China and Other Asian Countries
When deploying to countries with laws such as China's Data Security Law and Personal Information Protection Law that mandate storing data on domestic servers, self-hosting on local servers is a viable solution.
Basic design of Azure configuration
The self-hosted version of EMOROCO CRM Lite is configured using various Microsoft Azure services.
Azure App Service (Application Execution Environment)
└── EMOROCO CRM Lite Application
Azure SQL Database (database)
└── Customer data, project data, activity records, etc.
Azure Blob Storage (file storage)
└── Attached files/documents
Azure Active Directory (Authentication)
└── User management and single sign-on (SSO)
Azure Key Vault (Security)
└── Secure management of connection strings and API keys
If you already use Microsoft 365 (Azure subscription), you can install it as an additional configuration to your existing Azure environment, minimizing additional infrastructure costs.
Data access management by security roles
Both the self-hosted and SaaS versions offer the ability to finely control access permissions to data using the security role feature.
General Sales Representative:
- Only your assigned clients can view and edit this information.
- Customer data of other staff members is hidden.
manager:
- Access to customer data for all team members
Deletion is not possible.
Manager:
- All data can be viewed, edited, and deleted.
- System settings can be changed.
Agent (when using multi-tenant):
- Only data from your own tenants can be viewed.
- Data from other agencies is completely separated.
This security role design allows group companies, agencies, and sole proprietors to share the same system while keeping data completely separate, even when using it jointly.
Installation on our own servers (on-premise)
We also offer installation on your own on-premises servers, without using Azure.
OS: Windows Server 2019 or later or Linux
Web server: IIS or Nginx
Database: SQL Server or PostgreSQL
Memory: Minimum 8GB (16GB or more recommended)
Storage: SSD recommended, depending on data volume.
Network: Internal LAN (VPN if external access is required)
We can also accommodate requirements such as "I want to use CRM in a closed environment that is not connected to the internet."
Summary — "I can't use the cloud" is no longer a valid excuse.
EMOROCO CRM Lite's self-hosting capabilities enable organizations with stringent data storage requirements to implement customer relationship management based on the principles of CRM 4.0.
Organizations that say, "We can't implement CRM because we can't use the cloud," are the ones that are actually facing the risk of customer data being scattered throughout the minds of their employees.
Leverage emotional temperature, GIS maps, and workflow automation while ensuring a secure environment through self-hosting.
