Hello everyone.
Recently, I participated in the AI Tour in Tokyo hosted by Microsoft. I listened to the announcement of new features and workshops related to Copilot, an AI service, and I thought, "The era in which everyone works with AI has begun" I felt this strongly. Copilot has also begun to be implemented in Dynamics 365, which is our specialty. In this article, I will be activating Dynamics 365 Sales Copilot and trying out the new features as soon as possible.

Prerequisites and Recommendations

There are two prerequisites for trying out Dynamics 365 Sales Copilot:(As of the end of September 2024)

　1. A Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise or Dynamics 365 Sales Premium license
　2. The region was "United States"Dataverse Environment
*When I tried this in a Japan region environment, an error message was displayed. I think this will be fixed in the future.

I think there are few people who have an environment that meets both of these conditions.We recommend getting a trial of Dynamics 365.The steps to obtain it are explained in the article below.

In the linked article, select "United States" as your region in step 12. The rest of the process is as described in the article.

Enable Copilot

From here, we will explain the configuration steps to enable Copilot in an environment that meets the prerequisites.

1. Open the Power Apps homepage (make.powerapps.com) and click [Apps] > [All].

2.Check [Sales Hub] and press [Play].

3.Once the app is open, expand the area switcher in the bottom left and select [App Settings].

4.From the area, select [Copilot].

5.On the Copilot settings screen, select All Dynamics 365 Sales apps and click On.

6.Review the settings and select Publish.

7.The Copilot enablement process will begin and will be complete when you see the "Configuration complete" notification.

This completes the Copilot activation.

[Supplementary Note 1] About activation options

・Selecting [Enable Auditing] to enable it will start auditing Dynamics 365 (recording of record creation, update, and deletion), and you will be able to summarize the "changes" to the records.

- In the [Opportunities] and [Leads] tabs, when summarizing each table, you can select which columns (items) to include in the summary.

If you enable Copilot in a "Japan" region environment, you will need to change the environment settings in the Power Platform Admin Center. Specifically, you will need to agree to "Data movement between regions." Additionally, if you want to use Bing search within Copilot, you will need to agree to "Use of Bing search." This is because Dynamics 365 runs in "Japan" and Copilot runs in "United States," and data needs to be sent and received between regions.

This operation requires global administrator or PowerPlatform administrator user privileges. In the trial environment, you can perform this operation because you are the global administrator. Depending on the size of your organization, you may need to check the terms and conditions and coordinate with each department.

Get started with Copilot

This article focuses on enabling the feature, so we will only briefly touch on how to use it. With Sales Copilot, you can interact with the AI by simply selecting a button for commonly used functions. Of course, you can also create your own sentences and interact with them.

For example, select Leads in the Sales Hub app and press the Copilot button.
As shown in the image, the commands that can be executed on the lead are displayed. Select [Get info] to create a summary of the lead.

Select the name of the lead you want to summarize.

A summary about the lead will be displayed.
