When you want to switch!

When developing and testing with Dynamics 365 and Power Apps, you will often encounter situations where you need to work with multiple environments and users.

For example,

• After checking the settings in the [Development environment], I want to check the settings in the [Production environment].
• I want to switch between the [Sales Manager] role user and the [Sales Representative] role user and check the operation.

These are mainly migration work, operation verification and testing situations.

In such cases, you may encounter the problem that only one user can use one browser at a time. Do you find yourself logging in and out repeatedly or using multiple browsers to switch between them?

There's a better way.

Create a profile!

Chrome and Edge have a feature called User Profiles.
*Safari will be added in the September 2023 update.

This is a feature that allows you to create profiles (groups of settings) in your browser and switch between them.
History, login information, etc. are managed separately for each profile,
By creating multiple profiles, you can use multiple users simultaneously on one browser.

You can also create a profile by signing in with your Google account or Microsoft account.
For testing purposes, you can also create a local profile that is not tied to any account.

This explains how to create a profile. The explanation is for Edge, but the procedure is the same for Chrome.

1. Open your browser and click the profile icon at the top of the screen (Edge: top left, Chrome: top right).
2.  A window will open, so select [+Set up a new personal profile] at the bottom.
   
3. Select "Start without user data."
   
4. Select [Confirm and start browsing].
   
5. Once you have selected the overall appearance and theme color, select [Next].
   
6. Select [Finish].

To change or delete a profile name, click the profile icon at the top of the screen (Edge: top left, Chrome: top right), select the gear icon, and then select the setting from the screen that appears.

You can create multiple profiles by repeating this procedure.
You can switch between multiple users and environments simultaneously using one browser, so there's no need to log out and log in repeatedly!
However, if you create a large number of profiles, there is a risk of confusion, so you need to make it easy to distinguish them using theme colors and icons.
